U.S. stocks lower at close of trade; Dow Jones Industrial Average down 1.99% By Investing.com

Investing.com – U.S. stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NYSE, the lost 1.99% to hit a new 52-week low, while the index lost 3.20%, and the index fell 4.29%.

The best performers of the session on the were 3M Company (NYSE:), which rose 1.91% or 2.85 points to trade at 152.38 at the close. Meanwhile, Walmart Inc (NYSE:) added 1.17% or 1.75 points to end at 151.31 and Amgen Inc (NASDAQ:) was up 1.13% or 2.67 points to 239.17 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Boeing Co (NYSE:), which fell 10.47% or 15.59 points to trade at 133.31 at the close. Chevron Corp (NYSE:) declined 6.70% or 11.44 points to end at 159.25 and Visa Inc Class A (NYSE:) was down 4.84% or 9.82 points to 193.00.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Newell Brands Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 7.92% to 24.26, Viatris Inc (NASDAQ:) which was up 5.33% to settle at 10.48 and News Corp B (NASDAQ:) which gained 4.14% to close at 17.61.

The worst performers were APA Corporation (NASDAQ:) which was down 14.92% to 37.53 in late trade, Marathon Oil Corporation (NYSE:) which lost 14.03% to settle at 24.20 and The Mosaic Company (NYSE:) which was down 12.79% to 55.86 at the close.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Hemisphere Media Group Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 78.78% to 6.74, Blue Water Vaccines Inc (NASDAQ:) which was up 44.15% to settle at 5.42 and Points International Ltd (NASDAQ:) which gained 42.46% to close at 24.46.

The worst performers were Akanda Corp (NASDAQ:) which was down 74.30% to 2.29 in late trade, Renovare Environmental Inc (NASDAQ:) which lost 40.76% to settle at 0.18 and TherapeuticsMD Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 36.86% to 4.84 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 2879 to 392 and 75 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 3349 fell and 635 advanced, while 154 ended unchanged.

Shares in Boeing Co (NYSE:) fell to 52-week lows; losing 10.47% or 15.59 to 133.31. Shares in Akanda Corp (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; losing 74.30% or 6.62 to 2.29. Shares in Renovare Environmental Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; down 40.76% or 0.13 to 0.18. Shares in Points International Ltd (NASDAQ:) rose to 5-year highs; rising 42.46% or 7.29 to 24.46. Shares in TherapeuticsMD Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to 3-years highs; down 36.86% or 2.82 to 4.84.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 1.64% or 30.97 to $1,851.83 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 6.68% or 7.33 to hit $102.44 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 6.42% or 7.21 to trade at $105.18 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.09% to 1.06, while USD/JPY fell 0.23% to 130.26.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 103.75.
