Investing.com – U.S. stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NYSE, the declined 0.16%, while the index lost 0.26%, and the index lost 0.61%.

The best performers of the session on the were Home Depot Inc (NYSE:), which rose 1.24% or 5.07 points to trade at 415.01 at the close. Meanwhile, Walmart Inc (NYSE:) added 1.06% or 1.52 points to end at 144.69 and Coca-Cola Co (NYSE:) was up 0.73% or 0.43 points to 59.21 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:), which fell 0.88% or 3.00 points to trade at 336.32 at the close. Goldman Sachs Group Inc (NYSE:) declined 0.77% or 2.97 points to end at 382.55 and Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:) was down 0.72% or 1.24 points to 171.07.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Mohawk Industries Inc (NYSE:) which rose 2.45% to 182.24, Ulta Beauty Inc (NASDAQ:) which was up 1.87% to settle at 412.34 and Rollins Inc (NYSE:) which gained 1.69% to close at 34.21.

The worst performers were Discovery Inc Class A (NASDAQ:) which was down 3.76% to 23.53 in late trade, Discovery Communications C Inc (NASDAQ:) which lost 3.33% to settle at 22.90 and ViacomCBS Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 3.02% to 30.18 at the close.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Nutriband Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 157.80% to 10.08, Nymox Pharmaceutical Corp (NASDAQ:) which was up 36.19% to settle at 1.3000 and Ucloudlink Group Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 32.33% to close at 6.59.

The worst performers were Society Pass Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 20.17% to 10.41 in late trade, Moxian Inc (NASDAQ:) which lost 17.82% to settle at 2.86 and Star Equity Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 16.12% to 2.550 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 1943 to 1332 and 127 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2111 fell and 1736 advanced, while 169 ended unchanged.

Shares in Coca-Cola Co (NYSE:) rose to 52-week highs; rising 0.73% or 0.43 to 59.21.

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 0.63% to 17.22.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.90% or 16.30 to $1830.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 2.13% or 1.64 to hit $75.35 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 2.10% or 1.67 to trade at $77.86 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.42% to 1.1371, while USD/JPY rose 0.01% to 115.07.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.34% at 95.635.
