India stocks lower at close of trade; Nifty 50 down 0.61%

Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NSE, the declined 0.61%, while the index lost 0.62%.

The best performers of the session on the were Nestle India Ltd (NS:), which rose 2.20% or 436.40 points to trade at 20,241.75 at the close. Meanwhile, Titan Company Ltd (NS:) added 1.24% or 31.95 points to end at 2,615.45 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:) was up 1.23% or 12.05 points to 992.85 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:), which fell 6.71% or 73.85 points to trade at 1,027.50 at the close. Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:) declined 3.62% or 38.85 points to end at 1,035.30 and Infosys Ltd (NS:) was down 3.14% or 50.85 points to 1,569.30.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Nestle India Ltd (BO:) which rose 2.24% to 20,247.05, Titan Company Ltd (BO:) which was up 1.20% to settle at 2,614.20 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:) which gained 1.20% to close at 992.75.

The worst performers were HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:) which was down 6.72% to 1,027.30 in late trade, Tech Mahindra Ltd (BO:) which lost 3.58% to settle at 1,035.50 and Infosys Ltd (BO:) which was down 3.15% to 1,568.85 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1380 to 527 and 52 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2223 fell and 1165 advanced, while 121 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 0.60% to 13.48.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.19% or 3.45 to $1,804.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.80% or 0.57 to hit $72.03 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.46% or 0.35 to trade at $76.50 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.01% to 82.29, while EUR/INR rose 0.02% to 86.87.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 104.72.
