India stocks higher at close of trade; Nifty 50 up 2.89%

Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the gained 2.89%, while the index gained 2.91%.

The best performers of the session on the were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:), which rose 8.13% or 319.65 points to trade at 4,249.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:) added 5.83% or 144.60 points to end at 2,624.45 and JSW Steel Ltd (NS:) was up 5.15% or 30.90 points to 631.10 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Shree Cements Ltd. (NS:), which fell 0.97% or 215.15 points to trade at 22,001.20 at the close. UPL Ltd (NS:) declined 0.71% or 5.75 points to end at 808.25 and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:) was up 0.53% or 1.20 points to 229.50.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:) which rose 8.10% to 4,246.30, Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:) which was up 5.77% to settle at 2,622.15 and Nestle India Ltd (BO:) which gained 4.74% to close at 16,863.85.

The worst performers were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:) which was up 0.24% to 229.05 in late trade, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (BO:) which gained 0.71% to settle at 3,293.90 and NTPC Ltd (BO:) which was up 0.91% to 149.50 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1530 to 318 and 32 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2425 rose and 813 declined, while 114 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 5.94% to 23.10.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.08% or 1.40 to $1,842.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.10% or 0.11 to hit $110.00 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.30% or 0.34 to trade at $112.38 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.16% to 77.56, while EUR/INR rose 0.23% to 82.13.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 102.86.
