Investing.com – Australia stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Sydney, the added 0.07% to hit a new 6-months high.

The best performers of the session on the were Zip Co Ltd (ASX:), which rose 22.79% or 0.16 points to trade at 0.83 at the close. Meanwhile, Pointsbet Holdings Ltd (ASX:) added 7.05% or 0.11 points to end at 1.67 and Westgold Resources Ltd (ASX:) was up 6.15% or 0.08 points to 1.29 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Omni Bridgeway Ltd (ASX:), which fell 3.48% or 0.15 points to trade at 4.16 at the close. Fisher & Paykel Healthcare Ltd (ASX:) declined 2.84% or 0.69 points to end at 23.63 and Adbri Ltd (ASX:) was down 2.72% or 0.05 points to 1.79.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 717 to 597 and 399 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was up 3.89% to 12.51.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.29% or 5.65 to $1,922.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.24% or 0.20 to hit $81.44 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.29% or 0.25 to trade at $87.38 a barrel.

AUD/USD was unchanged 0.16% to 0.70, while AUD/JPY rose 0.58% to 90.79.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.23% at 101.54.
