Investing.com – Southern reported on Thursday third quarter that beat analysts’ forecasts and revenue that topped expectations.

Southern announced earnings per share of $1.35 on revenue of $8.38. Analysts polled by Investing.com anticipated EPS of $1.30 on revenue of $6.84B.

Southern shares are down 4% from the beginning of the year, still down 18.53% from its 52 week high of $80.57 set on August 19.

Southern follows other major Utilities sector earnings this month

Southern’s report follows an earnings beat by American Electric Power on Thursday, who reported EPS of $1.62 on revenue of $5.5B, compared to forecasts EPS of $1.55 on revenue of $4.72B.

Xcel Energy had missed expectations on Thursday with third quarter EPS of $1.18 on revenue of $4.08B, compared to forecast for EPS of $1.26 on revenue of $3.92B.
