Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Tokyo, the rose 0.56%.

The best performers of the session on the were Taisei Corp. (TYO:), which rose 4.63% or 190.00 points to trade at 4,290.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings Ltd. (TYO:) added 4.15% or 56.00 points to end at 1,405.00 and Pacific Metals Co., Ltd. (TYO:) was up 4.13% or 79.00 points to 1,993.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Kikkoman Corp. (TYO:), which fell 1.33% or 90.00 points to trade at 6,690.00 at the close. Casio Computer Co., Ltd. (TYO:) declined 1.20% or 16.00 points to end at 1,319.00 and Fujitsu Ltd. (TYO:) was down 0.87% or 160.00 points to 18,310.00.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2501 to 1019 and 296 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 8.41% to 17.54 a new 1-month low.

Crude oil for March delivery was up 0.52% or 0.42 to $81.03 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.45% or 0.39 to hit $86.55 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.38% or 7.30 to trade at $1,931.20 a troy ounce.

USD/JPY was up 0.32% to 128.84, while EUR/JPY rose 0.45% to 139.66.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 101.87.
