Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NSE, the declined 0.67% to hit a new 1-month low, while the index fell 0.67%.

The best performers of the session on the were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (NS:), which rose 2.83% or 6.75 points to trade at 245.15 at the close. Meanwhile, HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:) added 2.47% or 25.90 points to end at 1,076.10 and Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:) was up 1.94% or 67.80 points to 3,567.55 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Reliance Industries Ltd (NS:), which fell 3.91% or 102.35 points to trade at 2,518.30 at the close. Nestle India Ltd (NS:) declined 2.89% or 491.10 points to end at 16,504.35 and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (NS:) was down 2.81% or 25.70 points to 889.70.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:) which rose 2.83% to 245.00, HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:) which was up 2.44% to settle at 1,075.75 and Infosys Ltd (BO:) which gained 1.73% to close at 1,570.20.

The worst performers were Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:) which was down 3.97% to 2,517.15 in late trade, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:) which lost 2.97% to settle at 889.40 and Nestle India Ltd (BO:) which was down 2.88% to 16,512.70 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1423 to 428 and 42 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2331 fell and 1029 advanced, while 142 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 3.68% to 22.03 a new 1-month high.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 1.26% or 23.77 to $1,859.03 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 2.21% or 2.43 to hit $107.34 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 2.01% or 2.26 to trade at $110.13 a barrel.

USD/INR was up 0.67% to 77.47, while EUR/INR rose 0.54% to 81.63.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.17% at 103.87.
