Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the fell 0.76%, while the index lost 0.70%, and the index fell 0.26%.

The best performers of the session on the were Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:), which rose 2.30% or 8.60 points to trade at 383.10 at the close. Meanwhile, HelloFresh SE (ETR:) added 2.27% or 0.81 points to end at 36.47 and Puma SE (ETR:) was up 2.09% or 1.48 points to 72.38 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (ETR:), which fell 3.67% or 1.40 points to trade at 36.90 at the close. Deutsche Telekom AG Na (ETR:) declined 2.45% or 0.47 points to end at 18.68 and Allianz SE VNA O.N. (ETR:) was down 2.33% or 4.58 points to 191.58.

The top performers on the MDAX were Gerresheimer AG (ETR:) which rose 3.42% to 72.60, Siltronic AG (ETR:) which was up 2.39% to settle at 91.95 and Rheinmetall AG (ETR:) which gained 2.17% to close at 216.70.

The worst performers were Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (ETR:) which was down 9.54% to 2.71 in late trade, K&S AG (ETR:) which lost 4.67% to settle at 25.10 and Befesa SA (ETR:) which was down 3.92% to 58.75 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Morphosys AG O.N. (ETR:) which rose 5.45% to 21.30, Siltronic AG (ETR:) which was up 2.39% to settle at 91.95 and Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (ETR:) which gained 2.30% to close at 383.10.

The worst performers were Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (ETR:) which was down 9.54% to 2.71 in late trade, Deutsche Telekom AG Na (ETR:) which lost 2.45% to settle at 18.68 and Freenet AG NA (ETR:) which was down 2.43% to 24.10 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 344 to 333 and 88 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 1.27% to 21.85.

Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.24% or 4.40 to $1,856.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 2.86% or 3.42 to hit $122.83 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 2.92% or 3.52 to trade at $124.09 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.23% to 1.07, while EUR/GBP rose 0.60% to 0.85.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 102.46.
