Investing.com – Germany stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Frankfurt, the added 1.59%, while the index gained 1.70%, and the index climbed 1.73%.

The best performers of the session on the were MTU Aero Engines NA O.N. (DE:), which rose 4.35% or 8.40 points to trade at 201.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:) added 3.99% or 6.24 points to end at 162.57 and Continental AG O.N. (DE:) was up 3.48% or 4.05 points to 120.45 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:), which fell 10.72% or 6.930 points to trade at 57.730 at the close. Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:) declined 2.57% or 0.925 points to end at 35.070 and Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (DE:) was up 0.10% or 0.09 points to 87.07.

The top performers on the MDAX were Airbus Group SE (DE:) which rose 6.33% to 88.46, CTS Eventim AG (DE:) which was up 4.98% to settle at 52.050 and Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (DE:) which gained 4.21% to close at 53.25.

The worst performers were RTL Group SA (DE:) which was down 4.82% to 45.020 in late trade, Evotec AG O.N. (DE:) which lost 2.40% to settle at 32.100 and Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:) which was down 1.93% to 28.970 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Nordex SE O.N. (DE:) which rose 3.91% to 24.440, Jenoptik AG (DE:) which was up 3.86% to settle at 29.080 and Software AG (DE:) which gained 3.70% to close at 36.130.

The worst performers were Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:) which was down 2.54% to 69.100 in late trade, Evotec AG O.N. (DE:) which lost 2.40% to settle at 32.100 and Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:) which was down 0.17% to 180.00 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 502 to 156 and 36 ended unchanged.

Shares in Jenoptik AG (DE:) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 3.86% or 1.080 to 29.080.

The , which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 11.58% to 25.51.

Gold Futures for April delivery was down 1.36% or 25.30 to $1838.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 2.60% or 1.39 to hit $54.94 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 2.49% or 1.40 to trade at $57.73 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.24% to 1.2030, while EUR/GBP fell 0.10% to 0.8816.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 91.157.
