Investing.com – Australia stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Sydney, the rose 0.25%.

The best performers of the session on the were Brambles Ltd (ASX:), which rose 11.22% or 1.17 points to trade at 11.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Qube Holdings Ltd (ASX:) added 5.76% or 0.16 points to end at 2.94 and Pilbara Minerals Ltd (ASX:) was up 5.26% or 0.13 points to 2.60 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Zip Co Ltd (ASX:), which fell 4.04% or 0.04 points to trade at 0.95 at the close. Polynovo Ltd (ASX:) declined 3.85% or 0.05 points to end at 1.25 and Magellan Financial Group Ltd (ASX:) was down 3.55% or 0.56 points to 15.23.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 760 to 682 and 376 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 0.62% to 18.37.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.83% or 14.95 to $1,793.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.87% or 0.94 to hit $107.69 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.17% or 1.31 to trade at $110.24 a barrel.

AUD/USD was unchanged 0.52% to 0.69, while AUD/JPY fell 0.51% to 89.18.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 104.54.
